Most of my close friends know that my freelancing job is pretty boring but I enjoy it and I try my hardest to be the best, most cheerful receptionist I can be. There is one thing that REALLY pisses me off though. Its fine when people call Goodby, Silverstein, & Partners and ask for someone who does not work there but I HATE it when they argue with me and are EXTREMELY rude to me when I inform them that "the person you're looking for does not work at this company." Then they usually ask what company they called and immediately hang up when I tell them.
Today was a different story all together. I'm literally still red in the face from this horrible woman. First she asks for Michelle (we have about 5) so I ask which one she is looking for. She doesn't know her last name but she's the secretary for Kevin Casnow or something. I inform her that there is NO Kevin Casnow at our agency. She continues to badger me about this Michelle and tells me she isn't looking for Kevin, she's looking for Michelle. I tell her Michelle can't possibly work here if she's Kevin C's secretary since HE doesn't work here. She then accuses me of calling her, telling her to call back immediately, and then denying I called her. She also went on to tell me that Michelle is a "negro" woman . . . I just about died. I have NEVER yelled at someone at work but I almost chewed this racist bitch out (sadly I was too in shock, hell, I'm STILL in shock). I dropped the nice receptionist act at this point and forcefully informed her she had the WRONG NUMBER! She then told me she had called 955-3somethingsomething and this was that number. Um yeah, we're 392-0669 you fucking cunt (don't worry, I didn't actually say that but I'm sure she got the message). Needless to say, she hung up.
WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE??? Learn some phone manners and get your head out of the 1950's!
