Tales from Boulder (this is a long one)

Waiting for the AB bus at DIA

We just don't get these kind of clouds in California *sigh*

I got into Boulder Thursday evening and had an amazing dinner/margaritas with my lovely grand-daughter Anika (its a sorority thing). Then of course we made our way over to Conor's and then to The Downer. So much has changed. Its definitely weird to go to the bars and not know anyone, especially The Downer. After The Rack closed that place was my hang-out and I could always count on free shots, a crazy night, and some glares from hateful bitches. But now its all young hipsters, no smoking section, a strip club next door (Club NITRO hahahaha), but at least it still has cheap beers and kamikaze shots (holla!). Sonya and Ian got in around 1am so I went back to the hotel (ha! University Inn) with them.

On Friday Ian, Sonya, and I went on a walk along Boulder Creek and of course Ian found a rope swing. In true Ian form, since the rope swing was stuck out in the middle of the creek, he walked out to the furthest rock and leaped for the rope swing. The first time he landed in the creek (which apparently was FREEZING) but the second time he caught it and handed it off to some high schoolers who had gathered to watch us. Oh Ian, always the child at heart haha.

We headed over to the Rio for lunch/margaritas (yes!) with Mr. Chris Plummer :D Always a good time with Chris, I definitely missed having him in my life while I lived in Boston. He's so funny and smart and pretty damn handsome. And might I just say his life is kicking ASS these days. He just passed the test to become a foreign ambassador and finds out his assignment in the fall. You best buh-LIEVE I'll be visiting him where ever he ends up. Woo for international friends! Sarah showed up after a little bit and then we headed to Urban for some much needed shoppingz.

Day-time drinking with Chris, the yoosh

Friday night, the lovely Sarah did our hair/make-up (explains the hotness) and then we headed to Zanmai for some obligatory sake bombing and sushi. After that we headed over to the Walrus (OF COURSE) and Sarah and Ian had a peanut stuffing contest (OF COURSE) and we drank a bunch of heaven and hells (OF COURSE). Hahaha, love it. I think we bar hopped more than we ever have. We also went to Conor's, Club Nitro (for 2 minutes, vomit), Bacaro (for some sweet dancing), the Downer, the line was too long at the Foundry, and the Attic. Never been to the Attic before (at least that I can remember) but it was pretty cool. Got some Fat Alberts (grape koolaid and vodka) and met up with a former coworker from Boston, Mr. Tim Blount. Once last call happened I went back to the room but the rest of the crew headed up to Cosmo's which apparently has become more like Abo's (because Abo's closed, noooooo).

The happy couple

And this is only halfway through the night

Who needs strippers?

Poor Sonya, she spent most of Saturday in bed with the worst hangover of her life. Sarah, Ian and I had an amazing breakfast at Dot's and then Sarah and I wandered around campus to see the new Art and Business buildings. Campus was DEAD! So weird. Then we made our way back to the hill for some more shoppingz. I wanted some more Theta/CU crap but most of the store were closed :( (granted, it was 5pm). Bought the FREAKING AWESOME mustache necklace featured below. Went to Sherpa for dinner (obvi) and ate WAY too much awesome food and drank too many chais with Sonya's sisters Britta and Kali and their husband/boyfriend. AND got to meet Britta's new born baby, LEAH. She is super cute. Spent the rest of the night at Catacombs drinking beers and playing air hockey/ms. pac man/galaga.

Obligatory pic on the buffalo

All in all, a damn good trip! Can't wait to see my besties in 2 1/2 weeks for the actual wedding . . . back in Colorado :D
