Wizards and vampires and zombies . . . OH MY!

If you ever take a gander at the "In the Library" section (lower right side of the blog) you may start to notice a pattern. I can't help it. I freaking LOVE fiction. Action, adventure, mystery . . . especially fantasy and sci-fi. I mean, why wouldn't I want to escape to some other world or read about the lives of non-existent species for an hour or two every night? Or read about a hot, sparkly vampire *cough* *cough*

I will say that the genre has EXPLODED with the main streaming of zombies, vampires, etc. Anne Rice was about as good as it got a couple years ago, not that Anne Rice is bad mind you. The Vampire Lestat is STILL my all-time favorite vampire book. But I digress . . .

The Harry Potter books and the Twilight series are by far some of my favorite books of all time and while rereading them has been enjoyable I'm super amped at some of the books I have yet to read.

Fool by Christopher Moore is King Lear told by the court jester . . . and told in the raunchiest comedic way possible. Christopher Moore is great, he's a local (SF) author and the novels he's written that take place here are so rich with local knowledge and that makes me happy. He's also hilarious. Check out You Suck: A love story, it's a vampire love story written by a dude so it's definitely NOT Twilight, haha. Lot's of action/gore/hot sex. My personal favorite is A Dirty Job, about a reluctant grim reaper who runs an antique store :D

In the zombie genre, I'm going to be checking out Breathers: A Zombie's Lament and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I love Jane Austen. I love zombies. Yet another match made in Kate Heaven. Yes, it's a real place . . . you just aren't invited. Unless you're Mary. Mary's always invited.

In the ongoing quest to satisfy a thirst that is never truly satisfied (damn you Twilight) . . . Some Girls Bite. I actually found this as a recommend from a tweet by the dude who writes one of my favorite gossip blogs. I figured if he could find a decent replacement I ought to check it out. Granted, it's like deer blood vs. human blood really. Okay. I have a problem. Where is Twilight rehab when you need it??

And of course, I got the most awesome Harry Potter boxed set for my birthday so before the sixth movie is released I wanted to reread all seven books. I started with the first and realized I've never actually read books one through four . . . WHO AM I?! Ugh. Part way into the first book I also realized I just want to read book six and seven right now. I'll get to the other five later.

Yes, the books come in a chest . . . WITH STICKERS!!! Oh ho ho. Amazing.

So if you ever need some sweet book recommendations or you have a book you think I would love, email me: thekungfaux@gmail.com

P.S. Sorry if this post is all over the place, I'm writing it furiously before I have to run to catch the ferry back north.

P.P.S. I'm on a BOAAAAAAAAT!
