TV you should be watching (or renting)

Believe me, I am ashamed when I have to tell anyone that yes, I work in advertising and no, I don't have cable. *sigh* It's embarrassing. Thanks to the wonderful Hulu and Netflix Instant Watch (hooray!) I've been discovering new (to me) amazing shows and keeping up with my favorites. If you aren't already watching these shows, you really should:

1. Doctor Who (favorites: Seasons 2 & 4, Season 3: Shakespeare Code)

Honestly, maybe the best sci-fi show ever made. It's been running since the 60's but the newest incarnation is the best. I was wary of Chris Eccleston since I started with the second season (and David Tennant is all kinds of wonderful) but he did a really great job with the personality of The Doctor. Plus, the first season is important because it sets up the whole Doctor/Rose relationship. And Billie Piper is AWESOME! Billie is FOR SURE the best companion, Catherine Tate is a super close #2, and Freema Agyeman has grown on me so I don't actually HATE her anymore. Seasons 1, 2, and 3 are on Netflix Instant Watch but only until April 1st I think, so get on it! P.S. I want to marry David Tennant, SO DREAMY!

2. Secret Diary of a Call Girl

Billie Piper again! Hooray! And she's a high class call girl! The first season was supposed to be a one-off miniseries but they brought it back for a second season and rumor has it, there's a third season in the works. The second season is INTENSE. I cried. It was amazing.

3. Skins

I've only actually seen the first half of the first episode (stupid surfthechannel.com) but I'm completely hooked. A friend of mine's sister described it as a British Degrassi. I've never seen Degrassi (a Canadian show) but it must be awesome too. This is definitely risque and I would say its more truthful than any high school show out there. Um hello, high school kids do a LOT of drugs. And drink. And have sex. And there aren't always repercussions because usually a good time is had when all the above are combined. This show gets that. I love it already.

4. Numb3rs

True Story: I am a Math Geek. I'm pretty good at it. I just always found it so boring in high school/college because it was just memorizing a bunch of equations. If only my math teachers had shown me how math can be applied in the "real" world, and not just finding fractions/angles. Low and behold Numb3rs! Okay okay, the idea that the FBI needs so much math assistance is a bit of a stretch but hot damn, this show makes me want to get my math on. Also, Rob Morrow is in it as super hotness Agent Don Eppes RWOAR! I've loved him since Northern Exposure (you should watch that too). The only down side to this show is that chick who played "Theresa" on The OC. Eff her. Show ruiner. Regardless, the rest of the cast is AWESOME. I love that guy who played Jeff Goldblum's dad in Independence Day. "You'll catch a cold . . . Dad! You're a genius!!" Hahaha.

Other shows you should already be watching:
-The Office (British and American)
-30 Rock
-Gossip Girl
